When the cyclone takes the livelihood, the children leave school first.

Climate change and natural disasters leave families in Satkhira struggling to get through the year, and their children's education is the first thing to go.

Cyclones and floods take the livelihood most years. Women are underpaid and unprotected at work. Girls are married and pregnant early. Children drop out of school and do not come back.

Choosing the ten
Workshops with 15 families to understand what each one needed, then selecting the ten where the support would hold.

Something to earn from
Families started small businesses such as tea stalls and grocery shops, or received livestock: cattle, goats, chickens and ducks.

School as the condition
Every piece of economic support came with one condition attached: the adolescent children in the household stay in education.

Equipment for the women trained
Women who had completed training received the equipment and materials to start working with it.

Monthly check-ins
Progress tracked every month through the Adolescent Resource Centre, so a family struggling is spotted while there is still time to help.
