The land stopped paying, and the options that were left were worse.
More than half the families in Kaliganj lived off agriculture. Cyclones, creeping salinity and floods have damaged the soil and the harvests, and the income has gone with them.
What is left pulls young people towards selling drugs, gambling, or risky overseas migration that ends in trafficking. Phone repair pays whatever the weather does, and it pays locally.

Three months of repair training
A mobile repair and servicing course for 24 young people from climate-hit families, taught in small batches. Charging ports, display replacements, and the everyday repairs that pay the bills.

A toolkit each
Every graduate received a full professional kit: soldering iron, power supply, separator machine. Enough to open on day one without putting up capital they do not have.

Setting up the shop
Support with repairs, fit-out or the first month’s rent, and market mapping so the shops opened where there was real demand and thin competition rather than on top of each other.

Each one teaches one
Every graduate trains at least one more unemployed young person, free. It doubles the reach and it keeps going without us.
